Unfinished orders

Somebody fills their basket, types their phone number at the checkout, and goes. Unfinished orders lists them, with what they left, so that you can remind each of them once from your own WhatsApp. The page is a manager's or the owner's, and it says itself whether your plan includes it.

What counts as unfinished

• The checkout keeps a draft as soon as a mobile number WhatsApp can open is typed, with the name, the basket and the language being read. Nothing is kept for an empty basket, or for a number that is not one.
• A person still choosing is not unfinished: a draft is listed only after 20 quiet minutes.
• An order placed from the same visit takes the draft away, and so does an order from the same number on another phone. Whoever orders is never listed.
• Each person is listed once. After a week a draft is forgotten, reminded or not.
• The customer can say no: Don’t message me under the phone number at the checkout, and nothing is kept.

The list

Each row is Who (the name, or No name given, and the number), What they left (the dishes and their total, as "2 × Fattoush") and When, newest first.

• Remind on WhatsApp opens WhatsApp to their number, in a new tab, with the message already written in the language they were reading: "Hello Maya, this is Abou Ali Snack. You left 2 × Fattoush ($13.00) in your basket. Shall we get it ready for you? Our menu: …". Press Send there. The link is to your menu, not to their basket, which may be gone by then. Use the phone that has your WhatsApp, or WhatsApp on the computer.
• Not now takes them off the list without a message (Taken off the list.).
• Either way the row goes, and a second press on the same row says That one was reminded or taken off the list already., so two colleagues cannot message the same person twice.

With nobody waiting the page says Nobody left an order unfinished. The dashboard's card, 3 people left orders unfinished, with See who, is the way here at the start of a shift.

The customer's side

Under Mobile number the checkout says If you leave without ordering, Abou Ali Snack may message you once about it., with Don’t message me beside it; pressed, it reads Abou Ali Snack will not message you about it. The site's privacy notice says the same, and that what is kept is deleted after seven days or as soon as they order.

Switching it off

In Settings, under Ordering, untick Keep unfinished orders to remind: "When somebody types their number at checkout and leaves, you can remind them once on WhatsApp (Unfinished orders). The checkout says so. Switched off, nothing is kept." The note under the phone number goes with it.

Tip: Remind soon. Somebody who left at lunchtime is easier to win back at one o'clock than at eight; the 20-minute wait is only there so that a person still deciding is not messaged mid-order.
